Item Description

The old 1.7 cm label on the back says pyrolusite and the Trimingham label says manganite. Sparkling, sharp, dark gray, hexagonal appearing crystals to about 3 mm line a striking cavernous vug in banded hematite matrix on this very showy old-timer. The matrix matches specimens from this ancient iron mine shown in MINDAT. Both pyrolusite and manganite are RARE from this classic locale. High quality, excellent and rare material.
