Item Description
A very beautiful, completely pyritized, fossilized ammonite pair from the Jurassic Period of Russia when dinosaurs roamed the earth, with the chambers clearly visible, and completely lined with pyrite microcrystals. Looks like modern art! Sliced and polished on one side to bring out the beauty, these are two different ammonites. The differences of the chamber shapes are striking! The chatoyant, pretty pastel-pink, shell material on the outside is completely pyritized. This is Middle Jurassic Quenstedticeras species. These came out about 10 years ago, with none since.
