Item Description

A nifty and rare pair of pyrite crystals from the ancient iron mines at Rio Marina. Both crystals are cubes with mirror-bright luster and rich brassy color. The fine floater cube is nearly pristine with only very trivial corner and edge wear. The other cube has unusual modified corners with a couple of interpenetrating cubes by the contacted back. Specimens from this stope, with modern mining from the early 1800s to 1962, are RARE. Ex Giancarlo Fioravanti Collection and obtained from a Rio Marina collection in 1968. A fine and rare pyrite suite from classic Elba Island.
