Item Description

Tanzania is now included in the list of the world's great pyrite producers, as a result of the recent fabulous finds from the Merelani Hills, renowned for the world's finest tanzanites and outstanding diopside and grossular garnet specimens. This is a striking, large, very sharp, complex cuboctahedral pyrite crystal with mirror-bright brassy luster Complete all-around and actually in fine condition considering its size and the rough nature of mining here. It shows some minor contacting with some bruising visible on a few edges or faces, but in context this is small and is only a minimal detraction to this exceptionaly large and rare pyrite from this locale. Contacting on the back is mostly out-of-sight. Mass is 387 grams.
