Item Description
Butte is one of the greatest mining districts in the United States. It is famous for producing some of the finest crystals of Enargite ever found. The Leonard Mine is often cited as the premier mine in the district for the species. This piece is filled with excellent, razor-sharp, highly lustrous, dark metallic grey-black colored tabular striated crystals of Enargite measuring up to 4 mm, which are associated with golden metallic Pyrite crystals measuring up to 1.1 cm on matrix. Minor damage can be seen, but it's still in good condition overall. Very showy and eye-catching for this historic and now elusive material from Butte.
