Item Description

The Huanzala Mine of Peru has arguably produced the world's finest pyrites and this large specimen is an excellent, very sculptural and RARE combination example. Striking, mirror-bright, brass-yellow, pyritohedrons comprise this showy two-sided piece. The largest crystal is 1.7 cm and all of the crystals have striated faces. The striking stalk in the center is the highlight of this dramatic piece. The textbook form and intense color and luster are top notch. One side of the piece is richly peppered with RARE small dolomite rhombs to about 4 mm, while the other side has is embedded with light pink clay. The frontal display view with the dolomite is pristine. Periphery wear is noted on either end of the "B" side, but is certainly only a modest detraction. Classic, very showy and RARE Huanzala material. Specimens of this quality came out in the 1970s and 80s. MUCH BETTER IN PERSON!! The color is truly splendent brass-yellow. Choice and rare material from the Art Soregaroli Collection. Value??
