Item Description

The famous Pyrites from Navajún, Spain are some of the most recognized examples of this well-known sulfide ever found. Typically the crystals form in perfect equant cubes, but every once in a while we'll see a piece with a different habit. This crystal, while still cubic, is notably compressed in one direction, which is hard to find not just from Navajún, but any world locality. The crystal is essentially a "floater", as it's complete all around with no point of attachment to the matrix. There are a few minor bruises, so it's not completely pristine, but certainly desirable for the rare habit
From the collection of David E Ziga, a geologist who graduated Miami (of Ohio) University in 2017, with a mineralogy background.
