Item Description

This piece is from one of the more interesting Pyrite finds in Bolivia from around 2004. The specimen is loaded with numerous, sharp Pyrite octahedra with trapezohedral modifications, which is a rather uncommon crystal habit for this rather common sulfide. This particular locality is noted for the material, which was brought to market mostly by our friend Brian Kosnar back in the early 2000s. The Pyrite crystals are mounded one upon the other and range in size from 1 to 7 mm. All the Pyrite crystals are very bright and shiny, and the piece is in good condition for the material with only a few contacted areas and one on the bottom of the piece. An incredibly lustrous and interesting Pyrite from Bolivia! A superb old classic from the worldwide suite of our friend and staff mineralogist, Dr. Tom Campbell.
