Pyrite "Sun"

Item Description

The mechanism of formation of these amazing pyrite "suns" is not well understood. They formed in clay beds near what is now the town of Sparta in Illinois. They look almost like pseudomorphs after something biological, and this has been theorized. At any rate, this is a very large, totally complete, sparkling golden example of one!
