Item Description

Certainly the most unusual looking pyrite "sun" we have offered at auction. These are usually very circular, but this piece has a striking amoeboid shape. These beautiful, lustrous pyrite floater "suns" formed between an ancient bed of shale and clay near Sparta, Illinois. This one is complete all-around, front and back and is pristine. The radial appearance of the sculptural pyrite is very interesting and the pyrite has a flashy, chatoyant shimmer. Very highly representative and very different in form for this unusual occurrence. This is an exceptional, large and pristine specimen for the find. MUCH BETTER IN PERSON.
