Item Description

These beautiful, lustrous pyrite floater "suns" formed between an ancient bed of shale and clay near Sparta, Illinois. This one, unusually, is only partially covered with pyrite, giving a most striking appearance to each side!. The radial appearance of the pyrite is very interesting and the pyrite has a flashy, chatoyant shimmer. The broken edge on the bottom is totally covered with pyrite, meaning that this breakage took place before pyrite deposition. Highly representative of this unusual occurrence. MUCH BETTER IN PERSON.
