These beautiful, lustrous pyrite floater "suns" formed between an ancient bed of shale and clay near Sparta, Illinois. This one is complete all-around, front and back. The radial appearance of the pyrite is very interesting and the pyrite has a flashy, chatoyant shimmer. Highly representative of this unusual occurrence. I really like the character of this piece, with the contrast between the bright pyrite and the black shale disk. MUCH BETTER IN PERSON.
