Item Description
Mirror-bright brassy lustre on this very complex large pyrite crystal from the famous Merelani Hills. The crystal displays pyritohedral, cubic and octahedral faces. This deposit is renowned for the world's finest tanzanites and exceptional diopside and grossular garnet specimens and other species. Pyrite is now included in the list of excellent specimens. Bruising and contacting are noted, but this remains a large and highly representative example of the species and renowned locale. Ex Tim Sherburn Collection. Mass is 728 grams or 1.6 pounds.
