Item Description

Mineral specimens of any type are RARE from this obscure New York locality, located in a stream bed south of Syracuse. This super and rare pyrite has fabulous form and aesthetics. The intergrown clusters of lustrous, sharp, brassy cubes have a mellow satiny/frosted finish and are dramatically set on the sculptural, laminated Marcellus Shale matrix. The presentation view is pristine, with the one bruised edge being out-of-sight on the back. This is certainly one the most exotic and aesthetic pyrites from any locality we have offered at auction. AND it's from New York! The base has been sawed to enhance the superb display quality. Ex Bob Trimingham Collection and formerly in the Harry Simon Collection of Rochester, New York, according to Bob's label. Value?? A MUST for the New York or species collector.
