Item Description
Mineral specimens in general, are very uncommon to rare from the historic and still active gold, silver and copper mines around the city of Cananea. Mining started in the 17th century. This is a striking and highly unusual complex single pyrite crystal with mirror-bright brassy lustre. The two long faces on either side have fabulous dense intergrowth of crystal faces with some of the adjacent edge faces being super sharp. Complete all-around and nearly pristine, with only a bit of contacting along a narrow edge. Ex Gene Meieran Collection. Gene is one of the most prominent and well-known mineral collectors of today. Read more about Gene at: https://mineralogicalrecord.com/biographies_labels/meierangene/. A surreal, rare and very rare style 360-degree pyrite from this famous Mexico locale.
