Item Description
Pyrites from the Gold Quarry Mine (Pit) are very rare seen on the market. I've only seen a handful of them over the last few decades. This piece is a very good quality example of these unusual and attractive Pyrites featuring many highly lustrous / splendent, bright golden metallic crystals measuring up to about 1.1 cm on minor matrix. The brilliance of the crystals combined with the unusual habit makes for a really eye-catching piece. The crystals are predominantly cubic in habit, but they are tightly intergrown forming "rosette"-esque clusters. If you collect Pyrites, minerals of Nevada or simply pieces with interesting morphology, do not pass this one up. Hard to photograph, but really attractive in person. From the collection of Gary Weaver of Prescott, Arizona (1944-2019). Gary was an electrical engineer who worked for many years for Hughes Aircraft in California.
