Item Description

This specimen came to us labeled as coming from "Hannibel, Missouri", which is actually spelled "Hannibal", but it's almost certainly from the nearby Atlas Cement Quarry. This piece is a classic example of the scarcely seen Pyrites featuring semi-spherical clusters of micro / "drusy" metallic crystals, which are intergrown with more pronounced sharp, well-formed, cuboctahedral crystals measuring up to 9 mm on edge. The piece is essentially a "floater", as there is no defined point of attachment, and displays well as you can see from the photos.
