Pyrite, Quartz & Quartz after Dolomite (Israel Coll.)

Item Description

An unusual and sculptural, two-sided, combination rib from this well-known Panasqueira mine. Highly lustrous, brassy, pyrite crystals have nifty, lightly etched faces and are attached to the milky quartz on the right side. The back is totally different! The milky quartz has pseudomorphed a dense field dolomite rhombs, that have been turned light gray by a myriad of tiny, sparkly, sulfide lathes. The sulfides coat and are included in the pseudos. Very showy and fine two-sided combination material from the Willy Israel Collection and purchased in 1985.
