Item Description
The ancient iron mines at Rio Marina are renowned for fine pyrite specimens. This outstanding, floater, pyrite pyritohedron has mirror-bright luster and rich, bronzy color. The crystal jumps out at you from every face. Very nearly pristine, with only trivial corner bruising and contacting. Specimens from this stope, with modern mining from the early 1800s to 1962, are rare. Ex Giancarlo Fioravanti Collection and obtained from a Rio Marina collection in 1965. An ultimate Elba Island classic.
