Item Description
VERY RARE and fascinating combination material from this extinct Nebraska aggregate quarry. Two, sharp, lustrous, brassy pseudomorphs, to 1.0 cm, of pyrite after stacked compound cuboctahedral marcasite crystals are aesthetically set on the Pennsylvanian-aged (323-299 MMYA) shale matrix. The pseudos look like flat topped pyramids! A superlative and RARE accessory are the scattered fossil fish bones! The largest is 6 mm. A RARE, perhaps unique matrix pseudo and fossil fragment combination from this locale from the Bob Trimingham Collection # 12541. Ex Scott Williams Collection and self-collected in 1977.
