Pyrite on Quartz with Dolomite

Item Description

This sparkling small cabinet piece from Daye County, China has a cluster of Quartz crystals completely blanketed in glittering, 1 mm Pyrite crystals. There are a dozen Quartz crystals on this specimen from less than one up to nearly 4 cm, and every one of them is covered with Pyrite with only a few areas where there are some gaps in the Pyrite where a portion of a glassy Quartz crystal can be seen. There is a leter generation of small, milky Quartz crystals in places and clusters of pale pink Dolomite accent the piece too. There is one Quartz crystal broken off flush with the matrix on the left rear that shows the Quartz core and the Pyrite rim. A beautiful and showy small cab piece.
