Pyrite on Quartz (fine quality)

A rarely seen and fine quality, highly aesthetic small cabinet sized display specimen of Pyrite from the contemporary classic locality, the Shangbao Mine in China. A 2.6 cm, very sharp, highly lustrous, metallic / splendent golden color multi-crystallized cubic group of Pyrite is wonderfully perched atop the underlying Quartz matrix. I can't see any damage to the Pyrite with the naked eye, though some of the smaller accessory Pyrites are not complete. What makes the piece so desirable is the fact that you have a fine quality ISOLATED Pyrite group free standing on matrix, often the Pyrites from this mine are intergrown and "lumpy" looking, so they never have the presence of a piece like this. This specimen was priced in our inventory at $2,000 and worth it for the quality and aesthetics. The piece comes with a FREE custom lucite base as well.
