Item Description

Butte is famous for producing some of the most beautiful Pyrite crystals from anywhere in the United States. You don't see nearly as many Butte PYrite on the market anymore, and they will always hold their own on a worldwide scale. Here we have an older, classic and excellent condition specimen from the Leonard Mine at Butte. A wonderfully well-formed, iridescent / brass-yellow modified Pyrite pyritohedron / octahedron along with a few smaller Pyrite are sitting atop thin, water-clear Quartz needles. The Pyrite crystal measures 7 mm across. Excellent, old-time, display specimen. From the collection of Brian Kosnar, who obtained it from the Harold Urish collection. The label on the base says that Harold obtained the piece from Duane Johnson in February of 1991.
