Pyrite on Quartz

Item Description

Sharp, lustrous, beautiful golden metallic cubes of Pyrite resting on 2 layers of micro crystalline Quartz lining a curving pocket, accented with an abundance of glittering micro Pyrite cubes sprinkled throughout. The largest main cube being 2.2 X 2.1 x 1.7 cm. The contrasting white crystalline Quartz just seems to cradle the Pyrite cubes making for a highly sculptural pocket piece. In addition to the bed of crystalline Quartz there are a couple of 1 cm Quartz points off of the Pyrite that adds even more accent to the piece. There is minor periphery edge wear as to be expected for a piece this size and some contacting on the backside (non-display side) of the Pyrites. These do not detract in my opinion from this incredible Pyrite pocket specimen. It sparkles and glows at the same time when backlit, and is gorgeous in overall form. These Pyrites are from a find in the 1990's at Shangbao. Aesthetic and fine quality Pyrites from Shangbao are difficult to find. Ex. Kurt Hefendehl.
