Item Description
A striking and aesthetic pyrite on hematite specimen from the ancient iron mines at Rio Marina, Elba. Textbook, intergrown, pyrite pyritohedrons are jauntily perched on scintillating, bladed hematite matrix. The pyrites, to 3.5 cm, have classic, mirror-bright, brass-yellow color. The large pyrite has just a tiny bit of edge wear. This is a dramatic, old-time and classic combination specimen from this historic locale. Ex Robert Whitmore Collection
