Item Description

Pyrite and calcite are BOTH VERY RARE from this well-known Arizona locale, renowned for jackstraw cerussite specimens. A sharp, 3.5 x 2.8 x 2.3 cm, lustrous, brassy, well-striated, pyrite pyritohedron is jauntily set atop large matrix of striking, sculptural, parallel-growth, flattened sprays of tiny, dogtooth calcite crystals. The pyrite has been reattached to the matrix, but this remains a showy, excellent and rare, large combination specimen from this noted locale. Older material, as a cloth label is attached to the back. I cannot recall seeing another. ex. Dennis Mullane collection
