Pyrite on Calcite

Combinations of calcite and pyrite have been coming out of Hunan in China for 30 years now...every year or few, something different! This is a very old style and quite unique, as it features a thin surface coating of microscopic pyrites, that give iridescence in any light (and was purchased in Tucson in 2003 from a Chinese dealer). Most such combinations feature pyrite inside the calcite, oriented in patterns either inside the crystal faces or on the edges. This, however, looks like somebody spray-painted glitter onto one set of faces - the pyrite deposited quickly, and right after the calcite, but in such minute amounts so as not to coat it fully. Unusual and old!
