Pyrite on Calcite

Item Description

A glistening and dramatic well formed, terminated, large single scalenohedral crystal of translucent white Calcite that is partially covered with hundreds (thousands?!) of metallic, tiny golden pyrite cubes. The late stage coating of pyrite does show some iridescence resulting in flashes of multiple colors. The tapered singular Calcite crystal is 7.4 cm wide at the base. The termination, which is 4.1 cm across, is in excellent condition with the upper part of the crystal being mostly complete with only minor contacting on one side. The base of the crystal is cleaved but doesn't impact the overall display presentation of the piece. This is a delightful specimen with a lovely statuesque single Calcite crystal with an added dazzling glittery Pyrite shine.
