Pyrite on Calcite

Item Description

This pyrite specimen shows great contrast, to the white matrix, and isolation of crystals that is very unusual in a Peruvian pyrite specimen. It has sharp crystals, with subtle complexities of growth and amazing striations that add reflected light. The largest crystal is 3 cm across. All are pristine and intact, even on the sides and side faces, where micro-crystalline stepped faces exist. The more you look, anywhere at any crystal, the more Borg-like subtle complexity you will see. A slight gap on the right is actually micro crystallized with many faces, not a hole - interesting, in person. This is not the biggest crystal or the biggest piece, but it is subtle and fine in a way that so few Peruvian pyrite specimens present. It displays phenomenally, because of the contrast, the patterns, and the overall size. A fine small cabinet specimen!
