Item Description

Pyrite is RARE from any of the famous Hardin County fluorite mines. Sparkly, brassy, pyrite crystals, to about 3 mm, are preferentially festooned on the impressive large jackstraw cluster of lustrous, translucent, cream-colored baryte blades. Pyrite on baryte is also rare from Hardin County. Ex Ross Lillie Collection # 2239 and previously in the George Loud Collection # 1652. Mined in ca. 1960 according to the labels. Ross' handwritten note says this is an "Exceptionally rare occurrence from the district."
