Item Description

Sharp, highly lustrous, brassy, slightly modified pyrite octohedrons to 2.0 cm cover the undulating surface of this large, showy and excellent specimen from Butte and the Robert Whitmore Collection. The matrix is massive quartz with one side hosting sprays of quartz points. A modest bit of bruising is noted on the front, but this remains a classic, larger than most, old-timer from this famed locale. Octahedrons are more uncommon than pyritohedrons from Butte. 1766 grams or 3.9 pounds. Valued at $1000 as a historic, large, display sized specimen
