Item Description

The famous Butte District is renowned for world-class pyrite specimens and this is an exceptional older intergrown cluster of octahedrons with an outstanding provenance. The mirror-bright brassy crystals are dominated by the striking 2.5 x 2.4 x 2.3 cm octo on the end with nifty corner modifications and light iridescence. One side of the piece hosts a rich sprinkling of quartz points. This super piece is from the well-known Belmont Mine. Al McGuinness purchased this piece from famous dealer Ed McDole in 1960. Ed was well-known for the high quality of his specimens. Ex Gene Meieran Collection. Valued at $1250-1500 for quality and provenance.
