Item Description

A very rarely seen matrix example of the hard to find iron cross penetration twins of Pyrite from Vlotho. I've only seen a few of these over the years, and they are highly sought after by collectors. This piece features a gorgeous, very sharp, metallic, bronze colored crystal of twinned Pyrite measuring 7 mm sitting on sedimentary rock matrix. The Pyrite not only shows excellent textbook twinning, but has a gorgeous patina giving it a wonderful antique appearance. If you collect sulfides or German minerals, you can't afford to pass up on this one as they are seldom seen on the market. Oddly, the piece is accompanied by a color slide of an iron cross twin of Pyrite from Vlotho, but I can't tell if this is a photo of this particular piece, or another specimen for refernce. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#1664). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
