A fantastic full-sized large miniature display specimen of the classic and sought after "iron cross" twins from the Gachalá area in Colombia. While this area is best known for its world-class Emeralds and blue Euclase crystals, the Pyrites do not get their due for size, quality and excellent morphology. This piece is a truly impressive representation of these seldom-seen specimens, as it is very sharp, well-formed and crystallized all the way around, save one corner where there is a small contacted area. The rich mahogany color on the surface is due to oxidation, resulting in what is either Limonite or Goethite. I love these twins, and I'm always excited when we have one to offer in the auctions.
