Item Description
Sharp, lustrous, brass-yellow, striated pyritohedrons are aesthetically clustered and isolated on two sides of the sculptural, large triangular tan matrix on this very showy and impressive specimen from the well-known extinct Pb-Zn-Ag-W-Cu-Au mining district. The pyritohedrons reach 1.8 cm. Mass is 1492 grams or 3.3 pounds. Pyrite is uncommon from the district and this is an outstanding and attractive large specimen. It has several fine possible display views. Rarely on the market in this size, richness and quality. We believe that Bob Reynolds collected most of these himself, as he was a frequent visitor to the location - and this was the best example we obtained in his large collection. Bob was a huge field collector in California and had a broad collection, including many such historic locales. He was the curator of the San Bernardino Museum.
