Item Description

A striking and aesthetic pyrite and hematite specimen from the ancient iron mines at Rio Marina, Elba. Textbook, intergrown, pyrite pyritohedrons are jauntily perched on scintillating, bladed hematite matrix. The pyrites, to 2.3 cm, have classic, mirror-bright, brass-yellow color. The primary pyrites in the display view are pristine, with the periphery wear noted to fringe pyrites. This is a fine, old-time and classic combination specimen from this historic locale.
