Item Description
A striking and aesthetic pyrite and hematite specimen from the ancient iron mines at Rio Marina, Elba. A textbook, 4.0 cm, pyrite pyritohedron is jauntily perched atop bladed hematite and pyrite matrix. The pyrite has classic, mirror-bright, brass-yellow color. This is a dramatic, old-time and classic combination specimen from this historic locale. Ex Robert Whitmore Collection and you can see part of an old paper label on the edge of the pyrite.
