Item Description
The Siglo XX mine is probably best known for it's phosphate species, but there are some very attractive Pyrite specimens that come out from time to time. This piece is a rather interesting display piece featuring sharp, VERY lustrous, cuboctahedral crystal of Pyrites with smooth broad faces, free of matrix. I can see some small silvery bladed crystals on the back of the specimen, which I believe to be Franckeite. The specimen is in excellent shape, crystallized all the way around, with only a few tiny nicks here and there. This piece is honestly one of the best Pyrites from this locality that I have offered in the auctions in a while. The largest crystal measures 2.4 cm across. The majority of Pyrites from the Siglo XX mine have such terrible damage that they wouldn't even be worth the cost of shipping to bring them back to the States. A good Pyrite specimen for a Pyrite collector or a specimen to add to a Bolivian or sulfide suite.
