Item Description

Pyrite is arguably the most common sulfide mineral in the world, and with that said, most people will tell you that some if not the best examples of the species are those from various mine in Peru. The various ore bodies in Peru have been the source of not only fine crystallized examples of Pyrite, but also some of the LARGEST examples ever found. This wonderful small cabinet sized specimen is a beautiful crystal group of sharp, metallic, golden color modified cubic crystals measuring up to 2.7 cm on edge with no matrix. The crystals feature small pyritohedral modifications on the edges and beautiful distinct striation lines on the broad cubic faces. The piece is not 100% perfect, but the small amount of edge wear around the periphery is forgivable, and most of the crystals are very good condition. A lovely display specimen of this well known material. Priced in our inventory at $1,500 retail.
