Item Description

A very rarely seen matrix example of the hard to find iron cross penetration twins of Pyrite from Vlotho. I've only seen a few of these over the years, and they are highly sought after by collectors. This piece features a few gorgeous, very sharp, metallic, bronze colored crystals of twinned Pyrite measuring up to 47 mm sitting on sedimentary rock matrix. The Pyrites not only show excellent textbook twinning, but have a gorgeous patina giving it them wonderful antique appearance. If you collect sulfides or German minerals, you can't afford to pass up on this one as they are seldom seen on the market. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#4382). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
