A superb and striking, old-time, pyrite specimen from the historic iron mines on Elba Island. This very fine, complete all-around sculptural cluster is comprised of mirror-bright, silvery-brassy, complex pyrite pyritohedrons. The large crystals reach 5.0 cm on this amazing piece. Nearly pristine and nearly a floater, this outstanding piece has only very trivial contacting and bruising on the sides and contacting on the base has very little damage, per se. About the finest Elba pyrite we have offered at auction. Ex Steve Smale Collection and valued at $750-1000. Hefty at 872 grams or 1.9 pounds.
