Item Description
This specimen comes from the collection of Willard W. Wulff (1904-1998) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, a prominent figure and collector of Colorado minerals. Wulff was one of the founding members of the Colorado Springs Mineralogical Society in 1936. You can read Willard's bio on the Mineralogical Record website here ( http://www.minrec.org/labels.asp?colid=1528 ). Sharp, lustrous, golden, metallic, smooth and striated complex crystals of Pyrite free of matrix make up this attractive cabinet sized piece. It's in great shape overall, and only has a few minor imperfections. It's crystallized all the way on the front, but obviously it's not complete on the back where it was removed from the pocket. Hefty and attractive! The largest crystal measures 5.2 cm across. Valued at $950. Please note: This piece weighs just over 1 kg (2.2 lbs), so there will be an additoinal shipping charge, please keep this in mind when bidding.
