Item Description

This specimen comes from the collection of Willard W. Wulff (1904-1998) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, a prominent figure and collector of Colorado minerals. Wulff was one of the founding members of the Colorado Springs Mineralogical Society in 1936. You can read Willard's bio on the Mineralogical Record website here ( http://www.minrec.org/labels.asp?colid=1528 ). A sharp, very well-formed, striated, partial pyritohedral crystal of Pyrite from the site of the first major gold rush in Colorado. There is not specific mine mentioned (it COULD be from the Patch Mine), nor a date, but good Pyrites from Central City (especially this size) are rare on the market. A great old time specimen for any Colorado collector, a US mineral collector, or a sulfide collector.
