Item Description

A classic specimen of the world-famous Pyrites from Navajun, which are some of the most iconic examples of the species out there. I would say that these might be the most well-known if not the best cubic Pyrites extant in terms of quantity and quality. Many thousands of these impressive crystals have been found at Navajun, which is mined only for these specimens from what I'm told. The combination of the textbook form, razor sharp faces and impressive luster should make any collector want to add one to their collection. Even though this is a common sulfide, you can't deny the quality of a Navajun Pyrite. This piece features a multi-crystal group of intergrown cubes with individual crystals measuring up to 2.8 cm on edge free of matrix. The piece is almost a complete "floater", but I can see a contact on the lower back corner that keeps it from being 100% damage free. Still very showy and great quality overall. From the worldwide collection of Tom Campbell. Tom is a mineralogist and mineral collect who works with us here at The Arkenstone. He has over 35 years of experience in the fields of exploration geology, mining, and applied mineralogy, and has even more years under his belt as a collector!
