Item Description
This is a huge, intergrown cluster of octahedral, splendent, brassy yellow, pyrite. All of the octahedral terminations are superbly modified, striated and with a luster different from the rest of the crystal faces. The largest crystal measures 7 cm in length on the crystal edges (longer on the diagonals). The crystals are in great condition and only incomplete on the base of the specimen. It is NOT your common pyrite! Such large octohedral crystals are really a thing of the past, seldom found today in this quality level. And, octohedra of such size are simply not found elsewhere in anythign approaching this much impact. It is, overall, not "just" a pyrite but is rather a very special piece of elite status, compared to the vast tonnage out there from these mines. For the sophisticated collectors, I see most either love pyrite of this calibre or dismiss the species entirely. For me, I love 'em. This is a killer, for what it is, and is worthy of elite collections that normally conatiain much more fancy species at higher prices, than pyrites. Valued $2500-3000
