Item Description

The State Bridge Pyrites from Colorado are among some of the most iconic examples of the species from any locality in the state. They are sadly not often seen on the market these days, and I haven't seen much coming out there in a few years. This attractive small cabinet is loaded with intergrown groups of sharp, metallic, lustrous cubic Pyrite crystals measuring up to 5 mm on edge which are sitting on host rock matrix. The piece is nearly a complete "floater" as it's crystallized all the way around, with only one small point of contact on the corner. The Pyrites show a classic golden metallic hue on one side, and a shimmering mix of iridescent colors on the other side (most likely from either oxidation or a slight copper coating). Very good quality all around, and a MUST have for any Pyrite fan or a Colorado mineral collector. Priced at $350. From the collection of Gary Weaver of Prescott, Arizona (1944-2019). Gary was an electrical engineer who worked for many years for Hughes Aircraft in California. You can read Gary's obituary here https://www.dcourier.com/news/2019/apr/27/obituary-gary-richard-weaver/
