Item Description
A excellent and rare pyrite crystal cluster from the ancient iron mines at Rio Marina. The two crystals appear to be rare for the locale, trapezohedrons, with all of the many faces. They have mirror-bright luster and rich, bronzy color. The large crystal jumps out at you from every face. The large crystal is complete all-around and nearly pristine, with only trivial corner bruising. Periphery wear at the base of the piece is noted, but is certainly acceptable on this fine piece. Specimens from this stope, with modern mining from the early 1800s to 1962, are RARE. Ex Giancarlo Fioravanti Collection and obtained from a Rio Marina collection in 1966. A very fine and very rare in this form Elba Island classic.
