Item Description

Most of the pyrite concretions from these recent Chinese finds have a "ball" shape, but this strange large piece is weirdly distorted. The small, sparkling, sharp, modified, metallic pyrite crystals have formed in amazingly concentric "rings" or "bands" on the strangely distorted "sphere" of shale. The specimen resembles some kind of strange planet or basket, and almost has an organic look to it. A very cool "floater" specimen and certainly one of the most unusual ones we have offered at auction. The irregularity on the side of the piece is mostly out-of-sight.
