Item Description

A striking, highly unusually shaped, large pyrite concretion from recent Chinese finds. Most specimens have a "ball" shape, but this strange piece is weirdly distorted. The small, sparkling, sharp, modified, metallic pyrite crystals have formed in amazingly concentric "rings" or "bands" on the distorted "sphere" of shale. The specimen resembles some kind of strange planet or basket, and almost has an organic look to it. A very cool "floater" specimen and certainly one of the most unusual ones we have offered at auction.
