Pyrite Concretion

These incredibly interesting pyrite concretions are some of the most unique specimens that we have seen from any locality. The small, sparkling, sharp, modified, metallic pyrite crystals have formed in amazingly concentric "rings" or "bands" on a "sphere" of shale. The pattern on the top is striking. The specimen resembles some kind of strange planet, and almost has an organic look to it. A very cool "floater" specimen and certainly unusual. The oval flattened form of this one looks like a dinosaur egg!
